Monolith Soft had a busy 2022 with the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, one of our favorite games of the year and the culmination of everything the developer has learned. And this is shown by a recent report he obtained Gamebiz.jp (over it Noisy pixel), as the developer nearly doubled its profit in the fiscal year ending March 2023.
According to a financial report from the Official Gazette, the RPG developer — which also helps Nintendo with many of its big releases, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — earned 800 million yen in the year starting April 1, 2022, and ending on 31 .March 2023. In contrast, in the previous fiscal year, the company earned about ¥404 million. That’s a 97.8% increase, which is pretty amazing. In 2022, Monolith Soft also collaborated with Nintendo on Splatoon 3.
We reckon that the company is also in for a good FY23/24. Not only was the last bit of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC released — Future Connected — in April, but there’s also the aforementioned Zelda mini-game that saw it “involved in contract development of game design, programming and graphics” for the critically acclaimed sequel to Breath of the Wild.
