The return of Prince of Persia This was one of the best news left for us from the latest Xbox showcase. Although Ubisoft has a remake of The Sands of Time in the works, seeing the saga expand with a new game was good news, although some have called the return to 2D conservative.

For Ubisoft it’s the opposite, for the French company, Going back to 2D is not a step back in the sagaFor the development team, creating a new Prince of Persia 2D isn’t going back, it’s just leveraging one of the main facets of the team, which is to develop great games in this perspective.

Prince Of Persia: Going Back To 2D Isn’t A Step Back

We are Ubisoft Montpellier, and we are people who never come back. We are only experts in 2D video games and scrolling platforms, so we wanted to take advantage of this experience to reconnect with the roots of the Prince of Persia series.

I’m a big fan of this series, playing it since I was a kid in 1989. My team and I also share a passion for metroidvanias, so it was only natural for us to take a 2D approach to shaping our own prince of Persia.

If all goes as planned, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown will be available on Xbox soon January 18, 2024.
