The alliance between Disney and Electronic Arts extends even further, and if the ten years of Star Wars exclusivity are to end soon, the video game titan has found a new sweet tooth in Marvel: in addition to the promised Iron Man video game from Motive Studio , a new action and adventure title based on Black Panther.
Through a official announcement, Electronic Arts puts two new weight cards on the table. First of all we have the announcement of the next triple A video game starring the protector of Wakanda and, in the same movement, the creation of his own new studio that will shape it: Cliffhanger Games. And beware, this study and the game are in the hands of Kevin Stephens from Monolith Productions.
Despite the fact that the Black Panther video game still does not have an official name (although from what we have seen, we do not rule out that it ends up being Marvel’s Black Panther), we do know that it will be a single-player action-adventure game created together with Marvel Games and in which the titular character will fight in reactive worlds.
What’s more, Electronic Arts already promises us that it will be the ultimate experience for superhero fans.
We are committed to giving fans the genuine and definitive Black Panther experience, offering more choice and control over their narrative than ever before in a story-driven video game.
Wakanda will be an ambitious sandbox superhero, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.
Along with the statement, a simple image that, at first, does not seem to draw parallels with the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. In any case, and faced with both a game and a service, it is a joy to see how Electronic Arts redoubles its commitment to The Triple A third person single player. Raising the bar compared to what was seen in Marvel’s Avengers is well within the reach of the project.
For its part, this is the second of the two games featuring Black Panther of which we are aware: in September 2022, and on the occasion of the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase, a game about the King of Wakanda and Captain America that takes place during World War II was announced.
