Small tricks often save time and effort, like these two tweaks applied to Google Calendar that can greatly improve your experience across the board. Now Google has included a great new feature for Google Search that allows share the results of any search with a gesture to even save them to view them later.
In May, Google announced AI capabilities for search. He showed some of the skills with which he wants to offer a better experience at all levels and thus trying to stop Bing, Microsoft’s search engine which, powered by ChatGPT, was able to put the American company that owns Android and another series of platforms and services against the ropes.
New features related to generative search will appear in the coming months, and a new experience has just emerged to give the user the possibility to make a gesture in the search results. What you get is partially mimic gesture behavior in Gmail emails. That is, with a sideways gesture in Google search, two very important actions are allowed.
As with the share window or the Android panel itself, when the Google app is used to search, it will be possible to save or share directly from the app. Sharing or saving includes the website name and URL by default, while the bookmarks icon adds it to the Google Collections “Save” feature (google.com/save).
There are two downsides to this new Google search experience. The first is that you can only make the gesture in search results. that do not include sticky links the same. As you can see in the screenshot shared from 9to5Google, you can do this gesture in the channel that has no other additional link; like the ones that appear right below with shortcuts to the most important sections of a website.
Previously, this sharing and saving feature was present from the three-dot menu button, but it is very clear that a gesture is an action that is performed in a simpler and more intuitive way. In fact, when it becomes available to all users in Europe, it could become the precursor to a more efficient website backup experience than Google has had so far.
The other catch is that this new experience only appears in accounts that have the generative search experience active. The only way to enable it is to go to Search Labs Search and click on the “Wishlist” button so that at some point the invitation arrives and thus be the first to try all these new features that will arrive in the coming months.
