Deus Ex: New (unofficial) update causes a lot of disappointment

Deus, Disappointment, lot, Unofficial, update

The former sci-fi flagship brand Deus Ex has recently become rather quiet. Now there’s finally another (albeit unofficial) update, but that doesn’t bode well for the moment.

Anyone who is longingly waiting for positive news about the sci-fi brand Deus Ex will unfortunately be disappointed for the time being. While the official rights holders are stubbornly silent about how the franchise will continue, another source has now spoken out.

What is meant in this case is Elias Toufexis, who is none other than the spokesman for the protagonist Adam Jensen. After peace has returned to the franchise, he now spoke up and more or less confirms that a continuation of Jensen’s story after the last part Mankind Divided is probably not planned.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was released in 2016 and received very good reviews – including for the excellent cyberpunk atmosphere. However, the sales figures unfortunately fell short of expectations – and that didn’t necessarily increase the chances of a sequel despite the cliffhanger at the end of the game.

Now Toufexis also emphasizes that he is definitely not working on a new Deus Ex at the moment. Such a game could certainly also be created without his participation, but voice actor Adam Jensen spoke in the last two times. It is therefore considered rather unlikely that he would not be included in another sequel. Or translated: The message from Toufexis is not necessarily one that fans of the action series have wished for.

And this despite the fact that the mostly well-informed journalist Jason Schreier emphasized at the end of last year that a new Deus Ex should be in an early development phase. Should such a thing actually come about – and that is entirely possible given Schreier’s excellent network – then the title is still so far from being published that we are not (yet) dependent on Toufexis for the time being. But as you know, that can still change! In any case, it remains to be hoped that the new Deus Ex, contrary to Jason Schreier’s earlier message, has not been completely scrapped in the meantime.
