Mortal Kombat 1’s DLC roster has been widely speculated since the game was unveiled earlier this year. Back in May, the full cast list for the first season appears to have been leaked via an Amazon Italy listing. Now one of those characters appears to have been confirmed, lending credence to the original error.
Spotted Idle sloth on TikToka short clip promoting a cross-media promotion for Call of duty includes some commentary from Vought International Studios, the fictional superhero entertainment conglomerate from the hit comic book series and TV show, Boys.
Underneath the clip, one user commented “COD AND POSSIBLY MK???” and Vought simply replied “MK confirmed”. Further down the chain, the company further elaborated: “The Homelander will be available at some point. That’s all we can say.” Homelander is the main antagonist of The Boy and the biggest rival of the main character Billy Butcher.
As of this writing, the comments are still live on the post, and given that this is an official account related to The Boys and another video game cross-promotion, we’re pretty sure it’s accurate. While he might be a potential “first confirmed” character, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be the first to be available.
Of course, NetherRealm Studios itself hasn’t confirmed anything, so until we get official word from the Mortal Kombat 1 developers, we can’t say for sure. However, we are convinced. Other than that, Homelander is a fantastic addition to the roster in our eyes.
Mortal Kombat 1 brings bloody combat to Switch on September 19. The Switch port is being worked on by Shiver Interactive — who managed to run Mortal Kombat 11 on Switch quite well — along with Saber Interactive, the studio responsible for bringing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the hybrid console.
