Sony has revealed which PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be “free” in July 2023. Another big month for subscribers? Here is the program.
The new PS Plus celebrated its first candle last month. In light of the resounding success of Xbox Game Pass, Sony reacted. These are two new formulas openly inspired by the competition, with a monthly catalog updated every mid-month. Unlike its competitor, there are few day-one releases, but a couple of PlayStation exclusives add weight to the service, including Horizon Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. There’s obviously something for everyone, and the PS Plus Extra – and premium games from July 2023 prove it once more.
The PS Plus Extra games of July 2023
Back to normal. To celebrate the first anniversary of PS Plus Extra & Premium, Sony released the big game in June. There were no fewer than twenty games added to the catalogue, again with a nice selection. There were also some gifts, including free wallpapers and avatars for subscribers. Within a year, the two new formulas certainly seem to be convincing. The extra offer pleases with its versatile additions, where big productions, current and old, are mixed as small independent nuggets. In particular, last month we think of Far Cry 6, Inscryption or even TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. The PS Plus premium formula has yet to prove itself, and gamers lament the lack of true classics and retro games.
The now-marked event sees Sony resuming good old-fashioned ways. There are two nuggets on the schedule this month: It Takes Two, the cooperative game, and the classic Undertale. The sadly underrated World War Z will delight fans of Left 4 Dead, while The Ascent is an excellent single player and co-op top-down shooter. All games in the list below will be available from July 18th

The PS Plus premium games of July 2023
Will July finally be the month to respond to complaints from PS Plus Premium subscribers? The premium offering still doesn’t quite live up to its members’ expectations, owing to an inferior catalog that only benefits from tentative additions. Many are hoping for the arrival of great classics like Dino Crisis, Silent Hill or even the first Tomb Raider, just to name a few. The PlayStation Plus Premium July 2023 additions are all about Twisted Metal when the series arrives in live-action on July 27th.
- Gravity Crash Wearable | PS4, PS5
- Twisted Metal | PS4, PS5
- Twisted Metal 2 | PS4, PS5
It is also reminded that streaming of PS5 games is currently being tested. This much-anticipated feature, which no longer requires downloading PS Plus games, will only be available to PS Plus Premium subscribers. No release window has been announced.
