Sony has announced a December 6 release date for its new PlayStation 5 controller, right to use.
Formerly known as “Project Leonardo,” the highly customizable controller aims to expand accessibility for PS5 users with disabilities, allowing them to play games longer and more comfortably.
Sony said it worked with accessibility organizations and experts for five years to “create a versatile controller kit” that would allow more gamers to share in the fun of gaming.
The Access controller lets you customize the layout with different buttons and stick caps in a variety of shapes and designs, operate the controller from any 360° orientation, and connect third-party auxiliary accessories using its four 3.5mm expansion ports.
Many settings for accessing the controller are available on PS5, and you can configure each setting to suit your needs. You can map buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, adjust stick settings, turn commands on/off or disable certain controller buttons.
You can also pair up to two Access controllers with a DualSense wireless controller for collaborative use.

Access will be available for pre-order starting July 21st, priced at $89.99 USD / CAD 119.99 / JPY 12,980 / EUR 89.99 / GBP 79.99.
