Apple iPhone 14 VS HONOR 90, which phone to buy?
The HONOR 90 is a fairly balanced phone that will more than meet the needs of the majority of users, without having to invest a large sum of money. If you only compare the price, it fares much better than the iPhone 14, but All that glitters is not gold and there are several aspects in which Apple’s proposal may be more interesting for certain types of audience.
Large screen vs more confined screen
The tendency of manufacturers is to manufacture phones with increasingly large screens because a lot of multimedia content is consumed on them. Although users have become accustomed to large smartphones, there are many who yearn for the time of five-inch terminals.
Neither proposal has such a small screen, but the iPhone 14 comes closest with its 6.1-inch panel, which It’s neither too small nor too big. The HONOR 90 is proof that confirms the trend by integrating a 6.7-inch panel.
But that’s not the only difference between the two. Although the screen of the iPhone 14 is of very good quality, it has a significant drawback: the refresh rate is only 60 Hz, something incomprehensible for a device of its price when there are 200 dollars that have at least one refresh rate. refresh at 90 Hz. The HONOR one runs at 120Hz and has a higher peak brightness (1,600 nits versus 1,200 nits).
If the user is not bothered by large smartphones, the HONOR 90 is more enjoyable for watching series, movies, YouTube videos or social networks. The iPhone 14, on the other hand, is more balanced and can appeal to both audiences.
Powerful processor for all… or not
If the HONOR 90 stands out for its screen compared to that of the iPhone, this is not the case for the chip. This terminal incorporates the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1a “super mid-range” SoC that most users will be happy with even while gaming (although graphics options may need to be tweaked for adequate performance).
He A15 bionicAlthough not the newest from Apple, it is a versatile tool for all tasks: from video/photo editing to playing the most demanding titles like Genshin Impact. Here, the iPhone takes the positives, although the price difference between the devices must also be taken into account and the HONOR 90 cannot be asked for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for what it costs.
The photographic section
One of the points in which there is the biggest difference between smartphones, especially when there is a big difference in price, is usually that of photography. Apple is a reference in the sector, particularly in terms of video stabilization, but the colleagues in charge of carrying out the analysis of the HONOR 90 they were pleasantly surprised.
On the HONOR 90, they pointed out that the operation of the cameras is fast, the camera application includes a large number of functions, and the professional photographic mode is at a good level. However, all is not good: when the light is low, we see the seams, since in automatic mode the shots tend to be underexposed, but the whole is rather positive.
The iPhone 14 does not reinvent the wheel on cameras, but we have found a very solvable solution for day and night, since Apple has improved night photography or in low light, now being brighter.
Autonomy
Apple has achieved exceptional energy efficiency in its latest terminals. The iPhone 14 is capable of up to 20 hours per charge in video playbackwhich becomes more than a day with normal use or all day if given the cane.
Regarding the HONOR 90, the colleague who carried out his analysis obtained up to two and a half days of battery life with moderate use and more than a day using it intensely and at home, always connected to the 5G network. In screen hours, that translates to more than eight hours of media consumption abuse, and at peak performance it consumes about 5 or 6 percent battery every half hour.
It incorporates a fast charging system so that the 5000 mAh battery goes from 0 to 100% in a short time, since by cable it reaches 66W, taking only 52 minutes to be completely ready. And it is that, curiously, it does not offer wireless charging, which is common in most smartphones and which can be a very negative point for some users. The iPhone 14, for its part, has MagSafe charging at 15W and Qi.
And the price
iPhone 14 and HONOR 90 belong to two different ranges, despite the fact that each differs in certain features from the other. HONOR is mid-high range and Apple’s is high-pretty high range. That is why we found a big price difference.
the HONOR 90 can be purchased from 549 dollars and the iPhone 14 is available from 1,009 dollars.
