Spike Chunsoft released its noir detective adventure Master Detective Archives: Rain Code on the Switch late last month, and it’s been well received so far.
Here at Nintendo Life, we gave the game seven out of ten stars – noting that it was definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of the Danganronpa series.
So what are the chances of a sequel? During an interview with Noisy Pixel, writer and game designer Kazutaka Kodaka announced that he would definitely be up for another game, but he’s not entirely sure if it will feature Yuma and Shinigami as the main characters.
Kodaka said he would be more than open to “opinions and feedback” from fans on what could potentially result in “more stories with this IP.”
Here’s a bit about the game’s story, if you’re not fully familiar with it:
Yuma, an amnesiac detective-in-training, and Shinigami, the ghost that haunts him, tackle unsolved mysteries in a strange city sealed off by endless rain.
The city of rain is engulfed in countless unsolved mysteries, under the complete control of a megacorporation. Master detectives from around the world, each with unique powers, must face the challenge of uncovering the truth. With the Shinigami at his side, Yuma joins the investigation as an intern at a detective agency. Travel freely within the fully 3D city environment to collect evidence and testimonies.
As the investigation progresses, an area known as the Isterious Labyrinth will appear, creating a path to the truth. Once inside, however, the mysteries surrounding the case materialize as tricks and traps waiting to devour Yuma. The rules of reality don’t apply here: dive into the ever-changing Istery Labyrinth and get to the heart of the case.
But that is not all! The monstrous mysterious phantoms will do whatever it takes to stop Yuma from getting to the truth. Avoid their barrage of falsehoods and cut contradictions to pieces with the Solution Blade!
There is also Season pass with four DLC updates. The first is ‘CH. Desuhiko: Charisma killed the cat‘ – will be released on July 27. This will be followed by three more DLC waves “coming soon”.
