Collaborations in video games are quite common nowadays. At this moment there is one of The Boys con Call of Dutyone of Dragon Ball con PUBG Mobile and even of Death Stranding con Fall Guys. That is why when we discovered multiple references to Fortnite in patch 10.1.7 of the PTR or test server of World of Warcraft (WoW) The first thing we imagine is that there will be a collaboration or ‘crossover’ between the two games, even with other Blizzard games like Overwatch 2.
The renowned website Wowhead was one of the first to report the references it found to ‘battle royale’ in the MMO. Among these are spells like Shockwave Bomb, Slurp Drink, Disco Bomb and Glug Jug. These would belong to a character called “Renegade Looter”which could be a boss.
Shortly after, a player known as Portergauge reported through his Twitter account that the character ‘Renegade Looter’ associated with these spells of WoW is a reference to Assailant Renegade (‘Renegade Raider’), a character from Fortnite.
We don’t think it’s a coincidence, but At the moment nothing indicates that it is a real ‘crossover’. It could simply be a tribute or parody that the developers of WoW towards the game from Epic Games. However, there are other clues that point to a collaboration between Fortnite and a blizzard game and if it’s not World of Warcraftcould be Overwatch 2.
Recently, the ‘modder’ Ponyraee created some designs for Soldier 76 and Mercy in the ‘battle royale’ and posted them on Twitter. They didn’t last long before they were taken down by a DMCA request from Blizzard. The argument is that it had “leaked content from Overwatch 2» even though these were basically ‘fanart’ for Fortnite.
Although it may be a mistake, Many believe that this happened because there would be a collaboration or ‘crossover’ between Fortnite y Overwatch 2 in the future. We know for a fact that that game will have a collaboration with an unannounced franchise in Season 7. Could it be about Fortnite?
