Something that continues to surprise CD Projekt RED is its ability to bring amazing projects of worlds that fascinate them. After the great step of the saga The Witcher and surprise us even with titles where this world came to the cards, it is time to see its most ambitious title: its adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2020 board game. But, with an already scheduled launch for April 16, 2020How much do we really know about Cyberpunk 2077?
The wide world of Cyberpunk 2077
We are currently facing the great commitment of CD Projekt RED, being its most ambitious project after the saga The Witcher. And although at the moment there is a long way to go, the studio has always shown great ambition for the creation of its games, something they try to reflect in Night City, the place where, mainly, will be all the action of Cyberpunk 2077.
This is not limited to being something linear, it is not a simple corridor to travel in which enemies appear in various hordes or specific moments. As the development team has defined it from the beginning, we are facing a place full of opportunities. In front of us a wide open world will be presented, which we have barely been able to see a little above in the trailers.
A world more alive than the present in The Witcher
Despite being a mega-city that seems to be more prepared to be the true reflection of the future, we find a city where crime has not disappeared
But on the outskirts of the city, where the poor try to survive surrounded by dangers, we will also have our moment. Although as the company has indicated, we will not know in depth its elements until we can have Cyberpunk 2077 in our hands. And, although they have shared a wide variety of data about their city and some of the possible consequences of our decisions, the company has not wanted to go further to not spoil the experience of the players and all the possibilities of discovering a new world .
Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand
One of the big surprises during E3 2019 was the arrival of a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077. We were all looking forward to that great moment, especially since it meant the arrival of a release date. But what no doubt nobody expected was that this announcement was accompanied by the arrival of a cameo within the game. And is that the actor Keanu Reeves, well known for his interpretation of Neo in Matrix, will be present in the futuristic world developed by CD Projekt RED.
As confirmed, the actor will play Johnny Silverhand, a character directly extracted from the board game Cyberpunk 2020, the title created by Mike Pondsmith (who of course participates helping in the development of the title). Johnny is a Rockerboy, a very specific class of characters in this world. Its presence is perhaps the most rebellious because with an electric guitar, some inserted chips and a reinvindicative message will turn Night City upside down.
And although there are many mysteries surrounding this character, one of the general doubts on the part of the players was the possibility of romance with the character played by Reeves. An option that the developers themselves denied, although there are still players who refuse to believe it that way.
The farewell to microtransactions
Another of the points that most worried the players was the presence of microtransactions, one of the increasingly popular elements in the world of video games. The idea of possible cosmetic elements within Night City with real price seemed a possibility for many, but it was the CD Projekt RED team itself that put an end to the rumor to totally deny this possibility. And it is that the intention of the Polish studio is that players receive a complete product and enjoy the content for which they have paid.
Of course does not eliminate the issue of DLC. And, like the Witcher, the team could consider releasing downloadable content in the future. All with the firm intention of giving new stories to live and, of course, new characters to meet. Although, once again, holding that the intention is that the player always feels that he pays for a complete product.
In regards to battle royale, the genre of fashion, the study has always denied that this could be a possibility for Cyberpunk 2077. With ingenious answers in their social networks and clarifying points in their interviews, they denied in their entirety that their ambitious project will add to the path marked by Other companies
Will we have a multiplayer mode?
Of course, a world as wide as that of Cyberpunk 2077 can be enjoyed in its solitary mode, this being the main idea of the company. And, with so many decisions at our fingertips, How many paths can we follow?
And although the company confesses to be working on it, its main objective is to polish the mode for a player and, already in the future, venture into an online mode. An idea that may not arrive in time for its launch, even though the study is already in the final touch-ups of its development. What we certainly know is that the time will come when players can create chaos within Night City together.
A world without censorship, showing the harshness of reality
When we think about the world of videogames, we find that many companies are not willing to go into political issues or deal with certain issues that can cause rejection in players. But what the Polish study has highlighted is that they will not be cut at the time of address political issues, war and even conspiracies. After all, the city of Night City is alive, the inhabitants will be making their decisions and this will have consequences, so censorship does not seem to have a place in this place.
Players will have total freedom to create their character, not limited to man or woman. Personalization will be very welcome in the title, as they have indicated on several occasions. And, since it is a title where players can put all kinds of implants to their characters, the intention is that they can change it at will, without being faced with the limitations of a specific genre.
On sex, the study has clarified that, if they did not limit this type of scenes with Geralt de Rivia and her romantic adventures, neither will they do it with Cyberpunk 2077 since, they clarify, it is an adventure for adults. In all possible ways, they demonstrate that the word taboo is not found in their vocabulary and that their firm intention is to grant the player power over their decisions in the game and carry with them the consequences that they may bring.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on April 16, 2020 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a future release on Google Stadia.
