Republicans in the US House of Representatives are calling on the FTC to give up their opposition to the takeover of Activision Blizzard.
Resistance is futile. That’s what 22 Republicans in the US House of Representatives who wrote a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are thinking.
The letter urges the FTC to end its opposition and litigation over Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Enough tax money was spent on a business that benefits consumers.
The letter said: “The FTC’s case against Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision is the latest in a series of actions clearly aimed at impeding legitimate mergers and acquisitions, while delineating decades of FTC practice among Republicans and Democrats alike ignore governments. Rather than protecting competition as Congress intends, the FTC has spent taxpayer dollars blocking a deal that promises to expand consumer choice and shield a dominant foreign company from competition.”
The FTC, on the other hand, is said to be reviewing its options, according to a report. Giving up doesn’t seem like an option.
