while you explore diablo 4Of the five unique regions, you will come across 15 forts – three in each region. Strongholds are locations full of enemies – concentrations of various villains you encounter throughout the world – that have taken over small parts of Sanctuary. Once you’ve eliminated the enemies and completed a stronghold’s quest, the non-demonic denizens of Sanctuary will return, sometimes granting you access to a waypoint or traders.
Our diablo 4 The Strongholds Guide explains why you should clear strongholds and where to find the 15 strongholds in Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, the Dry Steppes, Kehjistan and Hawezar.

Rewards for completing the Stronghold
Aside from the usual loot and gold drops you get from killing a ton of enemies, there are real benefits to completing a Stronghold when exploring Sanctuary.
At least one stronghold in each region will unlock a previously inaccessible waypoint. As soon as the monsters are expelled from certain strongholds, people also return – especially healers and traders such as blacksmiths.
However, not every stronghold becomes a marketplace or waypoint. However, any stronghold will grant it to you 100 notoriety. If you clear all three Strongholds in a region, those 300 Renown will cover most of the first two tiers of rewards for that region.
