Now that we’ve (hopefully) cleared all of the season 1 launch day woes, the larger Diablo 4 community is ready Appropriately Experience all that Vicious Season has to offer.
While the concept of seasons itself isn’t new to Diablo, this particular style is more akin to what you’d see in Fortnite, Call of Duty, or any other game with season content and a battle pass. In the case of Diablo IV, season progression relies on completing objectives, and those objectives cover pretty much everything you’d normally do in the game.
Seasonal journeys are divided into chapters, each with more objectives than you need to advance to the next, allowing you to choose which ones to tackle. When you complete an objective, you’ll gain favor, which is used to advance your battle pass. After completing a full chapter, you’ll gain more favor, as well as other rewards such as Legendary aspects.
One of the goals (in Chapter 3) is grim reward, requiring the player to obtain ten caches from the Whispering Tree. This is an end-game event, available after completing the Diablo 4 campaign, but if you’ve already done it on your One Hour account, you can skip the campaign and immediately incorporate Whisper Grind into your routine.
But what if you don’t actually Have to get ten caches? Well, that’s the conclusion of Reddit user Gumby785. What’s the trick? Just grab a cache and go ahead and drop it and pick it up. Repeat until required.
Get 10 tree caches, just get 1 and repeat drop/pick

Considering how quickly Blizzard cracks down on progress/hone bugs (e.g. pre-season patches making power upgrades obsolete), everyone is asking Gumby785 to delete the post before it gets Blizzard’s attention.
However, given the popularity of this post, it may be too late now. As tempting as it may sound to get a seat at Blizzard, with the nerfs of recent patches, this trick won’t actually save you any time in the grand scheme of things. Regardless, grinding the Whispering Tree objective has become part of your journey, so when you’re playing the game normally, you’ll get far more than ten caches.
but maybe you only Need a little extra boon to unlock something you’ve been looking forward to in your battle pass? We are not the ones to judge.
