Defeat the seized construct allows you to complete both the main quest Spirit Temple and Guidance from Ages Past in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Remember – you must attach Zonai Devices to your construct when traveling together to the Spirit Temple, as without them you will have a hard time beating the seized construct. Watch below if you want to learn how to defeat seized construct in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to defeat the Seized Construct boss in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Before fighting the Seized Construct in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we highly recommend equipping the Mineru Construct with a cannon and a spiked ball, as both will be incredibly useful in the upcoming battle. You might also want to have a fan in the back of the build so you can move around the battlefield faster, but keep your power cell in mind!
These weapons, along with the fans, can be found in the various armories you encountered on your journey to the Spirit Temple.
Don’t worry if they break during combat, as the grabbed construct will drop Zonai devices throughout the battle which you can then attach to your own construct.
When you’re ready to begin the battle against the seized construct, jump onto your construct and examine the owl statue in the spirit temple. This will take you inside the temple itself and when you enter the area filled with darkness, definitely not a trap, the fight will begin!
Seized Building Spirit Temple Boss – Phase 1
For starters, it’s important to keep an eye on your energy cell throughout this battle, because if it runs out, you’re virtually defenseless. The large amount of Gloom on the ground also means it’s a very bad idea to leave the Construct. Don’t forget that you can recharge the Energy Cell using Zonai Charges, and if you’re having trouble with this fight, it’s worth upgrading.
Luckily, the way you beat the seized build is actually quite simple. First, you have to stun it by hitting the enemy construction with the cannon. Then you’ll need to hit it with the spiked ball, usually three times, until the grabbed construct is thrown onto the fence surrounding the battle arena.
Remember to keep your distance from the grabbed construct when also using the cannon, otherwise you may take damage! You can also hit the grabbed construct without the spiked ball, but it will do less damage.
If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to pin the grabbed build in a specific area for a while, making it much easier to hit the fence. Just make sure to avoid the pillars because if you hit the Construct in them it won’t take any damage.
During this phase of the fight, the grabbed construct will spawn Zonai devices on its arms. This includes shock emitters, which he waves in front of him as he charges towards you, and his own cannon. He can also choose to just hit you and can throw you into the fence where you will take additional damage.
The grabbed construct also has the ability to jump across the battlefield, usually after hitting it against the fence, but can often end up near the fence on the opposite side of the arena.
Seized Building Spirit Temple Boss – Phase 2
The second phase of this boss battle will begin with two additional arms emerging from the grabbed construct. He’ll also gain new Zonai devices – some of which will drop when you hit the fence, allowing you to add them to your build.
During this stage of the fight, you’ll want to keep stunning the grabbed construct and throwing it back into the fence until it’s dead. However, it won’t stay stunned for as long and can take up to four times to hit the build in the fence.
The seized construct has new moves during this phase related to new Zonai devices it can spawn. This includes flying through the air using a rocket, but you can easily shoot it down using the cannon. You’ll want to do this quickly, as he can perform a flying electric attack while in the air. He will also keep hitting you and jumping around the arena.
Remember – you can use devices that fall from the seized building. While they’re not always the ones we recommend, you can still use them to stun the Construct and push it back into the fence.
Once you’ve defeated the seized construct, collect the heart container if desired and examine the secret stone.
After watching the cutscene, you will receive the Wish of Mineru, Mind Sage, which allows you to summon and use his construct at will. You will now also have completed the Guidance from the Ages Past main quest.
Before leaving the Spirit Temple, however, there are a few Zonai builds you should take the time to talk about.
The construction on the left side of the altar will give you the option to exchange powerful Zonai weapons for Zonaïtes. Meanwhile, the one on the right will give you an Ancient Blade. You can return to this build whenever you want to exchange 50 Zonaite for additional Ancient Blades.
Once your business in the Spirit Temple is complete, return to Lookout Landing and talk to Purah to complete the main quests Find the Fifth Sage and Crisis at Hyrule Castle. What happens next depends on whether you’ve already collected the Master Sword or not.
If you already have the Master Sword, then it’s time to defeat Ganondorf! Although you can face him even if you don’t have the master sword…
If you haven’t collected the Master Sword, you have the choice of collecting the Dragon Tears or completing the Trail of the Master Sword and Recovering the Hero’s Sword main quests. These quests will take you to the Lost Woods where you’ll need to defeat a set of Gloom Hands and a Phantom Ganon.
These options will both lead you to the Master Sword and give you a better look at the Tears of the Kingdom story. If you’re a Zelda Lorehound, we recommend completing both of these options so you can get a fuller picture of what’s going on in Hyrule.
