Only a few days remain until the launch of DoOM permanently on March 20 and it's a good time to put in the mood for all those curious who need to know all about the myth of the myth. Because the protagonist hasn't always been called the same and the Doom Slayer we know today has absolutely no idea if it's like we have been battling demons. From the documentary episode of the first Doom where they just made the scene to this day, the video game industry has improved tremendously, especially in the news media.
The Doom has never changed (it hasn't always done with the canceled Doom 4), and it stays the same: A representative, demons and many weapons can kill them. Simple, fun and bloody action. But gradually, lore and story have taken over, something that has been expanded in 2016, to enter the field of production of a new group of followers. They want to know more about Doom Slayer, via Sentinels of the Night, about the reason for this attack … and this DoOM Eternal moment seems appropriate.
However, we do not have it in our hands so it is necessary to look at the past to see what the complete history of the frame is. In what games does the opponent appear? Currently you can play just about everyone from your Xbox One, so there are no reasons to play it. Of course, if you expect some narrative detail that goes beyond what we tell you here in one of the first two, you can wait.
There are three opponents that are clearly separated, so we have divided them this way. We cannot rely on its play, composition or anything like it, in its history, so if you feel that it is incomplete or has questions, you should approach the comment box. Here we go:
Doom (1993)
The story that started it all. Our protagonist is one of the strongest and best trained Marines on Earth. However, there was an unfortunate incident when a police officer wanted to force his soldiers to shoot the gunmen and was beaten. For this reason, his management decided to take him to the UAC (Union Aerospace Corporation) Mars base as a security guard.
Phobos and Deimos, the moons of Mars, have also been part of the UAC research center, but suddenly after Phobos' restoration was reported on an attack by unknown beings that had filled the entire human life in their own way. A large motorcycle before the attack and suddenly, Deimos, another month, was gone.
They sent all the marine supplies to Phobos and with the exception of our protector, who kept guard the door, they all came in with very powerful weapons. A short time passed when the Marine decided to call its friends and found that its frightening fate was imminent: The cries, the sound of the explosion and the silence in the grave, left him with no choice but to go down alone.
After nearly clearing the demonic base, the ship was able to find the origin of the attack, a powerful beast called Spider Mastermind, dying, shutting down the port of Hell itself. Doom Guy has finished the attack and is back on Earth. Well, the night is not over … when he gets there he hopes to meet Daisy, his pet rabbit again, but unfortunately the Earth is also attacked and the head of his animal, grasping the tissue of the stake with blood.
Sigil (Illegal Expansion) (2019)
Sigil is the name of the fifth chapter of Doom's first book, created by John Romero himself. It's not official, though, and the recent inclusion of WAD in the Doom division of this generation makes us think of adding it to this list, especially since it includes the Doom Guy star.
After killing Spider Mastermind, we already know that our protagonist is returning to Earth. However, Baphomet, the messenger of Satan himself, uses the last angel with a secret sign, which brings us to the darkest corner of hell. We will have to fight for several solid levels until we return to earth.
Your Flesh Begins (Ultimate Doom) (1995)
The Flesh of Your Thought is actually the 4th of Doom's first chapters, which was released even after Doom II at the Ultimate Doom reunion. It's exactly this chapter that links the first and second entries, but it didn't come out until after that, more than anything because the story is not that it was a panacea. In short, Doom Guy is worried about Daisy's death and decides to take justice into his own hands as soon as he arrives in the world.
So great is his eagerness to continue killing the demons, that he is able to defeat the new Spider Mastermind, but even though his intentions were good, they were not successful enough, and a vicious attack goes on.
Doom II: Hell of a World (1994)
The world is full of chaos, many cities have been invaded and the ruins hide the remaining people who want to flee the ships to escape the planet. The start of Doom 2 is already taking over the planet and all that is left is to save all the potential humans. So, our Doom Guy, the world's most professional wedding, decides to clean and disinfect the ship's holder from the demons because the hidden power produces a shield that prevents it from doing so.
He eventually succeeds and the ships escape, but his mission does not end here. Apparently, the origin of the attack is in his own country, so he relocates there, when he finally finds the door to hell, where he goes in to end whatever this portal does. It is the Icon of Sin or the Icon of Sin, a great enemy that is very difficult to defeat and that in its fall caused the cessation of this attack. In the end, the world is safe and the gap in hell is contained.
TNT Evolution and Plutonia Experiment (Final Doom (1996)
These chapters are probably considered spin-offs, but since they have a sea star, we will consider them. UAC re-launched its technology in the months of Jupita, doubling its position in Mars. And guess what, when again, everything goes to hell, the forums bring chaos and our protagonist is the only survivor.
There is no vain attempt by UAC to contain metals with quantum accelerators and in fact, they cause the opposite effect. But eventually Doom Guy gets the win. Although yes, we do not know exactly when this event took place.
Doom 64 (1997)
If many enjoy the arrival of Doom 64 it is something. It's still a continuation of Doom 2, and since it has just released Nintendo 64, many players haven't been able to try it. In this installment, the Earth is at a time of peace and reconstruction after the attack and is almost destroyed by the earth. Our protagonist has finally retired. The touch he deserved when he had experienced all the shocks he had seen and suffered was what affected him, but it wasn't his end.
Phobos and Deimos were being replaced by the remaining demonic forces. The stats were closed, of course, but the military wanted to get rid of them with very low casualties, so they dropped many nuclear warheads over the months, including all the remaining creatures. Success, if it weren't for the mysterious and powerful beast that survived and began to revive all the demons, which reboot are more scary, powerful and bloody than ever.
How could it be otherwise, the World government decides to use its hero. The Marine of Doom, forcing him, snatched him out of his retirement to deal with the new invasion. Indeed, he is able to succeed before his enemies and, in some way, is able to withstand execution. But this time it wasn't enough to come home. This was supposed to end for sure, so he decided to stay in hell forever and eliminate the threat from within. His sacrifice is the end of the water as we know it. The Doom Guy myth ends here.
Doom 3 (2004)
Almost 7 years after the last installment and in a completely different form, Doom 3 is presented as a reboot of the saga. The action takes place on Mars, and in this case we have a well-formed structure full of kinematics that at least tries to explain otherwise. However, there again, there is no official connection with Doom Guy. But there is something different: In Resurrection Evil there are some tablets with a statue of a famous hero, apparently a figure of the ancient Doom Guy, so there are some ideas that would talk about this being a different size there and hell and try to invade our atmosphere, when it all made sense.
UAC is set in a red world in what they call Mars City, a city all dedicated to mining and resource extraction, but it seems that tests are also the end of the day. Our protagonist, a Marine without a word, arrives at the station to take its corresponding position, but soon the inevitable is caused. A critical failure in the installation creates a force of momentum that begins to turn all inhabitants into demonic entries and our opponent will try to escape when he kills everything he gets in his path.
Throughout the adventure, which we will take throughout the installation we will find excavations in which they have discovered a kind of ancient civilization that was extinguished a hundred years ago and lived on Mars itself. They were technologically advanced and thanks to them that UAC received teleportation. Unfortunately, these sites seem to be somehow connected to an unknown place where everyone starts to get mad and kill themselves.
Finally, before the imminent arrival of the reinforcements, the seafarer sees demonic intentions to use ships to enter the world, assisted by Dr. Betruger, a space scientist, leading him to take care of the same to end the invasion, into hell, which ends with a massive cyberDemon, contained within the Cube of Souls, an object made of Martian capable of closing these gaps. The march finds it and the rescue team finds it, signaling the end of the survivor.
DoOM (2016)
We wake up in a sarcophagus, a zombie type that attacks and kills him by nature. Now we are no longer an ocean. The demons would just lock us in a box and hide us in the corner of hell, and put our tattoo on the floor so no one would be able to rescue us. They alone call us by the name, Doom Slayer, Hell's Hunter. But now, we are free again. Free to continue killing and destroying demons. It's our job.
But let's focus on this article, because the full Doom Slayer story will be told later, because it's worth the text alone. We are on Mars, UAC, too, having collected massive installations and tens of thousands of workers, but the demonetisation is already underway, as evidenced by the AI operating space, VEGA. Between him and Dr. Samuel Hayden they will lead us to try to save the remainder of the foundation. In our best interest, we will move on to making the Argentine Agency the core of UAC's mission in the world.
In a world without resources, Argentina's power is the great foundation of civilization, but what no one knows is that this power is directly derived from hell. Dr Olivia Pierce in charge of experiments on Mars, which, similarly and without the knowledge of Samuel Hayden, begins to set up an all-religious cult where people are sacrificed, believing that Hell's creatures as hell are the new god who will save them all.
The Arizona tower is the gateway to the new gate to hell, where Doom Slayer enters to find a way to stop the attack. There you find the interests, which will reveal to him that he was not just a fiction writer, but that he was also the leader of a race or civilization of invaders called the Night Sentinels. With the help of Crucible and manipulated by Hayden, Doom Slayer managed to get rid of the great cyberDemon and finally, with Olivia Pierce herself, who after coming to hell revealed her real face, Spider Mastermind, the last boss of the game.
The last thing we will see is Samuel Hayden telling us that he is not a bad person, and that everything he does is for a good reason. But he'll catch Doom Slayer, and as he greets him, he seems to be sending him back to another dimension, we don't know.
DoOM Forever (2020)
After two years of DoOM 2016 events, we continue to install Doom Slayer, but because this title hasn't been available yet, at the moment, we don't know what happened between delivery and so on. What we do know is that the Earth is completely invaded by demons. In one day, they managed to kill 60% of the people, troops that they could handle for a few months, but many open sites continued to bring in many unrestricted enemies.
From this fortress that crosses the Earth, this escort will be sent to various places in search of other priests who control the main forums to end the invasion, being our ultimate goal. But the blue planet will not be the only destination we will visit. Mars, the base of the Night Sentinels, and the sky? We have to find out what the cause of this attack is when it seems more dangerous than just destruction.
There are already theories that the cult of the cult of Mars has multiplied on Earth, helping to open the first portal there, because hell itself couldn't do it without help, so directly in the first line from the game it sounds to the speakers saying to calm down, that what we see is normal. There are many surprises awaiting us through history that we do not know and according to Hugo Martin, all fans will have what they wanted.
However, this will not end here, since both DLCs scheduled for the game will be completely campaign, which is expected to be expanded again if possible.
How can a saga connect? Is Doom Guy the same Doom Slayer?
Obviously, we can't cover all the ideas, guarantees or accuracy that link the opponent and it's very easy to get back to the idea of other ideas, something guaranteed in the final installment, where hell is considered a kind of parallel symbol that can absorb the whole world (this way Demimos disappeared in the first Doom). But even then it's not too hard to imagine a Marine who fought forever in hell by the Doom Slayer.
And it is that on this hot journey, he would have found himself in a position with the Night Sentinels, trusting them as partners and soon after becoming their leader, thanks to his admiration for the most important hero and hero of the infernal rites, a creature named Titan.
