Original News: Today the fateful news that had been rumored for a few days ago has been confirmed: E3 2020 is officially canceled, giving final folder to the biggest video game event of the year, as well as one of the only ones that were still standing.
Of course, the reason behind this is none other than coronavirus spread, which has forced numerous locations throughout the world, including The Angels (venue of the event year after year) to declare the state of emergency, making it impossible to organize any kind of event that brings together large numbers of people. After a careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry, our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our E3 partners for a long time, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the E3 2020, scheduled June 9-11 in Los Angeles.
After the growing and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt that this was the best way to proceed during an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we cannot celebrate this event for our fans and followers. But we know that it is the right decision based on the information we have today.
The effects of coronavirus do not seem to end here, as we remind you, this global pandemic has forced many Nintendo workers to work from home and has sown uncertainty in the celebration of the Olympic Games scheduled for this summer in Japan, thus jeopardizing the success of one of Nintendo's big goals set for this year: inaugurate Super Nintendo World, its first amusement park, in the Universal Parks of Osaka.
