Does the industry need an E3 equivalent?

The debate I want to help you with today was just presented months ago when SONY confirmed that it would not attend E3 and both media and users began to question whether such a story still makes sense today. Today, after the cancellation of E3 2020, the question again raises the question: Does the industry need an E3 equivalent?

Times have changed. Those years when videogame journalists from around the world traveled every year to Los Angeles to learn about the news and the release that would come in the coming months were left behind. Communication is now more direct and direct than ever before. Development studios and distributors can communicate directly with users through social media and their social media channels, and they no longer need to get their full attention a few days a year. Now we have information not only monthly or weekly, but daily. All the daily news is out, any morning we can wake up with a new announcement of a new installment of our favorite saga, or with a surprise new IP presentation, or even an unexpected cancellation. That is why the debate opens up, not without reason.

Until three years ago the Electronic Entertainment Expo was held behind closed doors, the show was attended exclusively by industry-related companies and the media, not only the special, the general director also attended, it was an annual event, video game party. Both the previous conferences and the fair itself showcase topics for sale in the coming months, including economic data for investors. But all this makes no sense.

The right building needed to be transformed, so it started to open up to the public, as did others like Gamescom in Germany or the Tokyo Game Show in Japan. Thanks to the Internet and video streaming, fans around the world are now able to follow all the conferences, many of them live, which has made E3 so popular. And now that we're used to having these conferences once a year, it looks like it's likely to end soon.

Does the industry need an E3 equivalent?

As I mentioned, companies no longer need an annual appointment period to communicate with their systems, either in the media or with users, they now have multiple channels for this. And doing your ads on different dates does that attracting all the attention, instead of sharing the products with others during the event days in June. But they still need to hold meetings, show economic results to investors and establish labor relations between companies. Social networking will always be in demand, and when done in person. Having this point of the meeting is always helpful, especially for those small distributors and those development channels that require a publisher to present their articles, although it is not essential that they should be done on specific dates.

Perhaps for the most part, E3 doesn't make much sense as it has so far, but it does offer little visibility and interaction with most people.

Do users need an E3-like fit?

In my opinion having an appointment period where seeing multiple announcements and announcements is something that all players love. It may not be needed in the strict sense of the word, but it does produce anticipation, conversations, and sometimes a sense of brotherhood among all who follow the news. The good thing is that we now have announcements and conferences throughout the year, but they don't have the same magic of putting it all on the same dates.

In the end, this possibility may be insignificant for companies or users, but the wrong impression of it may be what drives you to emerge and find your place in the video game world. Perhaps ESA (Entertainment Software Association) should pay attention to and implement a series of changes that appeal to viewers and the public. Businesses and representatives still need to come together to do business, and the public loves to attend events, colds, addresses, more and more. The fact of losing the previous series spread over 4 days is a sad thing we will all remember if we lose.

We don't know what's going to happen right in the years to come, whether it's going to be focused on more streaming or will continue to be a hybrid, but we will definitely look forward to that. What do you think?
