Infinity Ward is already working hard to further expand and improve the recently launched Battle Royale mode Call of Duty: Warzone. In conversation with USA Today In this regard, co-studio manager Patrick Kelly has spoken and introduced the first innovations for the popular free-to-play shooter.
Call of Duty: Warzone stands out from the competition simply by having a whopping 150 players in every match. Most of the comrades in the genre limited themselves to 100 or fewer gamers in one game – but Infinity Ward even wants to add one in the future. The first attempts with 200-player matches are already underway internally.
"We have brought a number of innovations to the Battle Royale genre," says Kelly. "I think the world you play in is undeniably truly unique. For example, we started with 150 players directly, whereas you typically only see 60 to 100 players in one game. And I can tell you that we actually do already play with 200 players. We will add this feature a little later. "
However, increasing the number of players to 200 is not the only innovation that Infinity Ward has in mind shortly after the release. Rather, you want to serve the most common demand from the players themselves: larger squads. Warzone is already tested internally with squads consisting of four or five gamers.
"I can also confirm that we are already playing with four and five player squads. But at launch we wanted to start with something that we know worked really well," said Kelly, referring to this topic and so far available triple squads.
