Battle Royale is still very popular, as Call of Duty: Warzone shows. The official Twitter channel for the Free2Play decoupling has now announced that as many as six million players within the first 24 hours have registered.
And that despite the rather large download size of 85 to 101 GB.
What a day! 24 hours in and over 6 million of you have dropped into #Warzone.

For comparison: After the surprise release of Apex Legends in 2019, it took eight hours to one million registered accounts. Within 24 hours, there were "only" 2.5 million players. Warzone is off to a much more impressive start.
Why is Warzone so successful?
In addition to the big name is likely the crossplay function Especially help Warzone with the number of players. Users of the PC, PS4, and Xbox One version can play together on request. You can also play matches with friends who have a console.
Success on Twitch: The game also has records on the popular Twitch streaming platform. On the evening of the release, 461,000 people watched broadcasts of the new Battle Royale shooter at the same time. In the meantime, however, the top position had to be cleared again by the long-running League of Legends.

PUBG, Apex & Co. should tremble before Call of Duty Warzone!
Call of Duty is fun for you too: It plays less than half of the GameStar community, but most of those who venture out have a lot of fun. The lack of solo mode is, however, as with Apex Legends, the biggest point of criticism. Because Warzone is currently limited to squads of up to three players.
The current hype will of course subside in the future. It remains to be seen how Call of Duty: Warzone will hold up in the long run. The currently numerous bugs in particular could put many players off.
