You probably know the legendary Westwood Studios for the real-time strategy series Command & Conquer, but the developer was also responsible for the Adventure Blade Runner. The title, released in 1997, was a game based on Ridley Scott's feature film that told a side story. The very title that has long been forgotten is now making a comeback.
Nightdive Studios have just announced the Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, a modernized new edition of the classic adventure game, which is due to be released in 2020 for the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch platforms.
What has happened to the original? The character models and animations have been significantly modernized, the cut scenes are scaled up and improved, there is support for widescreen resolutions and the controls can be adjusted more individually in the future. However, Nightdive did not yet publish real screenshots or a trailer beyond this initial information.
The Westwood classic Blade Runner focuses on the story of Detective Roy McCoy, a hunter of renegade androids. The story is set in the same universe as the film released in 1982 and there are even characters and environments that can be seen there as well. The actors Sean Young, James Hong, Joe Turkel, Brion James and William Sanderson also took up their film roles in the game at the time.
