Several sources are now reporting that a reboot of the horror franchise Silent Hill is on the way. For this purpose, the Konami franchisees are said to have entered into a cooperation with Sony to work on the new project. Several members of the original Silent Hill team are said to have returned and been involved accordingly; the work should go on for some time.
Previously, there were rumors that Konami would approach different developers to implement two projects within the franchise: a reboot and a new episode-style title. In this context, the name of the until-dawn makers of Supermassive Games also came up, but in the end, apparently, you are now working intensively with Sony.
These new speculations come from Rely on horror on the one hand and Aestehtic gamer on the other hand; above all, the latter had often hit the mark with its leaks and forecasts in the past. The Leaker does not disclose his sources, but emphasizes that one of them is someone who was already right with some statements about Death Stranding well before the official confirmation.
So what can we expect? If the new speculations are confirmed, there will be a "soft reboot" of the series, which is simply called Silent Hill. Development work on this should have been going on for a year. Well-known faces of the franchise are also involved, including Keiichiro Toyama, director and writer of the original game from 1999, Akira Yamaoka, the composer of the horror series, and Masahiro Ito, the creature designer.
The development work itself is to take place in Sony's Japan Studio. As usual, an official confirmation is still pending, so you should still enjoy the statements with appropriate caution.
