In the recent past, Guild Wars 2 had a hard time. At first there were layoffs and the team was downsized. Then the last founder left the company. But how it looks the studio is recovering from the setbacks: Now you have announced the third addon for Guild Wars 2.
Does the expansion lead to Cantha?
So far, the team has not revealed any details about the story, features or even a release date. However, they share a first artwork. And that gives fans hope: It looks like the upcoming addon will go back to Cantha. Because in the picture you see a temple with an Asian stylefor which the area is known. This is mainly based on the Far Eastern culture.
The almost official confirmation provides the name of the video on the main page of Guild Wars 2. That has namely "Carousel-Shing-Jea" in the name. Shing Jae is an island in Cantha, west of the main country. You could already visit them in Guild Wars Factions.
What's next now?
It will take some time before the next expansion is presented. Before that, the developer has other plans. So will on March 17th, 2020 the second episode of the Icebrood saga appear.
You can also look forward to events: The Super Adventure Festival and Dragon Bash are due to come back a little later. Both are also said to offer new rewards.
After the festivities, that's it third chapter of the Icebrood saga on. For them it goes to the Woodland Cascades, which are based on the design of the Pacific Northwest. Here you have to capture and defend areas on a PvE map.

@ kawaraban5After Guild Wars 2 was not doing so well last year and the quality of the content updates deteriorated, I put the game aside for now. But if an addon comes now and even leads to Cantha, then I'm on board again immediately!
Not only do I enjoy every game with an Asia setting, it also gives me hope for a lot. What will we see in terms of new elite specializations? Maybe thieves become assassins fighting two blades at the same time? May the ritualist come back as a specialization for the nekro? And warriors could become bar-wielding monks!
Of course: Currently only pure speculation – but from a player's point of view I look forward to the announced add-on for Guild Wars 2 with great anticipation.
