Ori and the Will of the Wisps has become a really good game, as Heiko Klinge and Tobias Veltin both found in our test. And that, together with a sale, has a very positive effect on the number of players of the predecessor Ori and the Blind Forest.
According to Steamcharts, they are currently playing as many players as never before. And the numbers are not just a little better than in the past, they are the same twice the old maximum.
While the maximum number of simultaneous users for the release in May 2015 was 5,209 players, there have been a total of 9,825 in the last 30 days, and the trend is rising.
What makes Ori so good?
This is what the game is about: Ori and the Blind Forest is a 2D sidescroller that is characterized above all by its artistic graphics and very emotional story. You take on the role of Ori, a soul guard who has to solve the mystery of a dying forest. In terms of gameplay, it is a classic platformer with puzzle inserts.
When Mirco Fighter awarded 88 points in our 2015 test, he was blown away by the demanding Metroidvania: the graphics, the balancing, the urge to explore. Everything fits together. After criticism, he had to rummage, but found at least one with the long walks and a missing teleport function.

He is not alone in his opinion. On Steam, Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the few titles that have received more than 90 percent positive reviews. To be precise: At the current point in time, it is a whopping 96 percent and is therefore classified as "extremely positive".
It is no wonder that many players are currently striking if they can get the Definitive Edition for 5 euros and receive a copy of the main program as a gift.
