Since Naughty Dogs Neil Druckmann is also involved as co-writer in the work on the series, the Last of Us: Part II should now be completed and released for the PS4. Until the current status on May 29, 2020, there will be little change in the HBO series for the time being.
The ongoing development of the PS4 sequel is responsible for the fact that the production of the show "cannot start directly". Mazin also discussed why the once-planned film project for The Last of Us was canceled and has now been replaced by a series.
