What to do when the laptop keyboard doesn't work

doesn39t, keyboard, Laptop, work

It is important to have a keyboard so that you can use some of these solutions, something that goes against our problem. However, since the laptop keyboard is not compatible with the touchpad, it is likely to work – or you certainly have an external USB mouse for maximum comfort – and that we can use it at least. In any case, it is recommended that if you have external USB keyboard plug it in a laptop until you find a solution.

If you do not have this possibility, do not give up, because Windows installs use that can help us alleviate the problem.

Windows 10 on-screen keyboard

As we mentioned, Windows features a keyboard that we can click with the mouse. To access it you must click Start and navigate to "Windows Access", where we can select the on-screen keyboard.

This will bring the keyboard to the screen, where it can press its keys with the mouse. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but to get out of trouble if we can't connect an external keyboard, it's worth it.

In explaining this, let's look at how we can solve this problem.

If the keyboard doesn't work because of software

Check Windows components

It's possible that when the laptop keyboard doesn't work it's because of the software. For this reason, the first thing we must do is to make sure that all Windows components are ready, and for this we have to open the Command Prompt window as an administrator. To do this simply click the start button and select the command command (controller).

When the window is open, issue the following command: sfc / scanner

This will continue to monitor all Windows items, and later (when done) we have to restart the computer.

Reinstall the keyboard driver

If this did not solve the problem, the next thing you should do is reinstall the keyboard driver. To find this we have to go to the device manager, which you can enter by right-clicking the start button and selecting "Device Manager", and inside you must search inside "Keyboards" or "Keyboards" using a device called "Standard PS / 2 keyboard 2 or" standard keyboard for PS / 2 ». You must click on it and select Uninstall.

After doing so, we restart the laptop and the next boot, Windows will automatically install the driver again. If not, it is recommended to re-install the Device Manager, and remove all that appears inside the Keyboards.

We've already seen what we can do to solve the problem with regards to software, and if nothing has worked againSo the problem may be with the hardware. So, the first thing that should be done to make sure the problem is that, and with this, just turn on the laptop when it is turned off, we have to press SUPR, F2, F8 or F12, the corresponding BIOS input key.

If the laptop enters the BIOS then the keyboard is ready and it will certainly be necessary to format the equipment. If it doesn't answer, go to the next section because the problem is specific to Hardware.

If the problem is in the hardware

If you are sure that the problem is in Hardware, but you are slow and shaky, then you need to "mute" the laptop. Remove the screws and open the bottom cover, you will have to get a keyboard connector and this, unfortunately, depends on each manufacturer so we cannot show you the standard cases that can help you.

The connector will look like this.

The first thing you have to do is remove it (carefully, usually you must remove it with the scarf), check that the cable and connector are not dirty, then reconnect it. Check before the connector is damaged.

When the keyboard is no longer working, we fear you will have to change or move it using technology.
