A lot of good new games came out in February. Among others: Wolcen, Daemon x Machina, Zombie Army 4 and the first DLC for Rimworld. Various long-running favorites such as Rainbow Six Siege and Grand Theft Auto 5 continued to sell well. In the end, however, they all became beaten by Assassin's Creed Unity.

As Gamesindustry.biz reports, Assassin's Creed Unity placed itself in the period from February 3 to March 1, 2020 in first place on the sales charts in the EMEAA region – i.e. Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia. Digital and physical sales across all platforms are considered.

The top 10 sales charts

  1. Assassin's Creed Unity
  2. Grand Theft Auto 5
  3. FIFA 20
  4. Rainbow Six: victories
  5. The Division 2
  6. Red Dead Redemption 2
  7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  8. Metro Exodus
  9. NBA 2K20
  10. Dreams

Why did Assassin's Creed Unity sell so well?

The reason for the high sales volumes is likely to be an error with Steam have been. At the beginning of February, its users in Indonesia and South Korea were able to buy Assassin's Creed Unity for under one cent, or 0.19 cents to be exact. Ubisoft will not have seen too much revenue from the high sales figures.

That shouldn't bother the publisher, however. A year earlier, Ubisoft gave away this part of the assassin series for a week after the Notre Dame burned down in 2019. The aim was to enable everyone to inspect the digital reconstruction of the building. In addition, the publisher donated 500,000 euros for the reconstruction of the real cathedral.

To its original release in 2014 Assassin's Creed Unity was suffering from severe technical problems on the PCn who buried the actual game among themselves. Why the part is still better than its reputation, our GamePro colleague Maximillian Franke explains in his column.

The question of the best Assassin's Creed is a little like religion. Because everyone here has their own views and preferences. But for me it is clear: Unity is the best part, and I think it's good that it gets so much attention late after its failed launch!

Because Unity is most strongly based on the original concept of an open world hitman and also best implements the social stealth mechanics, i.e. hiding in crowds. I also like the fact that I can decide for myself how to solve missions and not always be forced into a predetermined and scripted way.
