Gaming News Hackers hack a PlayStation studio and have information on one of the PS5’s big exclusives!
Insomniac Games is undoubtedly one of PlayStation’s biggest weapons and is currently (or so we imagine) hard at work on Marvel’s Wolverine, which we don’t know much about yet. Unfortunately, the studio was just hacked.
Insomnihack games
One of the great strengths of Insomniac Games is undoubtedly its productivity: just since the beginning of the new generation, the company has released three games, namely Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Man 2. And again, The studio has confirmed that it is working on Marvel’s Wolverine, a project that is still very mysterious but generating great excitement.
While 2024 will likely be the year of a proper reveal, developers are seeing the rug being pulled out from under them by Rhysida Ransomware, a group of cybercriminals that has only been active since 2023 and managed to hack the famous Sony studio : Not only did they disclose the identification documents of employees (including Yuri Lowenthal, Peter Parker’s voice actor), but also email exchanges about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as evidence of the hackbut they have also and most importantly… released the first images of Marvel’s Wolverine.
An unfortunate situation
In these images we can see Wolverine from behind – that’s some early gameplay – as well as sketches that reveal the appearance of another Marvel character. A real blow that sabotages the planned communication around the game, and again: The hackers are threatening to release additional data in their possession unless Insomniac Games pays a ransom of approximately $2 million in Bitcoins. The company would have seven days to make the payment, otherwise more data will be released.
What’s moreLeaked documents reveal that Insomniac Games is reportedly working on three other games alongside Marvel’s Wolverine, namely a new Ratchet & Clank, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and even another game in the Spider-Verse (perhaps the Venom-themed title we talked to you about recently?). The company has not yet publicly responded to this painful affair.
