Blade, the next big Marvel game, reveals a little more with new images after its announcement at the Game Awards 2023. It makes you want to play it, and you’ll quickly understand why.
The Game Awards 2023 ceremony wasn’t just about giving awards to various games. It was also an opportunity to discover new trailers. Sometimes they were games we already knew. But there were also unknown faces in the battalion, like Blade. This is Arkane Lyon’s latest creation, and more has just been revealed online.
Concept art for Blade
As a reminder: This third-person action-adventure puts us in the role of Blade. If you don’t know him, you know that he is a legendary vampire hunter in the Marvel Universe. It first appeared in 1973’s Tomb of Dracula #10 and was credited to Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan. In reality, he is a dhampir, a human-vampire hybrid with superhuman abilities that affect his strength, speed, agility, etc. He is also a swordsman and a sniper. With such powers and abilities, it promises some great action sequences.
The adventure will take place in a Paris slightly different than the one we know today. So far we haven’t been able to make any real progress on this topic, but thanks to the concept art revealed by the studio, it’s now possible. We see Blade observing the city from a rooftop, preparing to invade somewhere, and in the middle of fighting what appears to be a swarm of bats. So yeah, these aren’t in-game images, it’s still a little early, but it gives an idea of the tone of the atmosphere. And clearly, it makes you want to do it.
Xbox Series Exclusive?
Blade has been in the news a lot lately, but not necessarily for the right reasons. In fact, it sparked a debate in the community following a rumor. You may know that Arkane Lyon is part of Bethesda Softworks, which in turn is under the auspices of Microsoft. So will the game be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S? VG247 reached out to Bethesda for clarification, but they declined to comment at this time. This is not reassuring for the PS5.
This is reminiscent of the situation in Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2. The latter was announced for Xbox Series X/S and PC, but availability for PS5 is still pending. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, will have the final say. Obviously, Marvel’s Blade isn’t in quite the same situation, especially because it’s a new intellectual property. We hope to learn more in the coming months.
