Grinding Gear Games has revealed a trailer and details for the latest content expansion for Path of Exile: Affliction. The new expansion will be released on December 8 on PC and Mac, and December 13 on PlayStation and Xbox. Additionally, the team introduced the Mercenary, a new class for Path of Exile 2.
Main features of the Mercenary class in Path of Exile 2:
- The Mercenary is a character in Path of Exile 2 who wields a crossbow. Its shooter-style gameplay lets you switch between crossbows and ammo types at any time to launch deadly combo attacks against your enemies.
- Path of Exile 2 introduces WASD movement, allowing you to aim and attack in a direction other than the one you are moving. You can switch between click-to-move and WASD at any time.
Path of Exile: Affliction Main Features:
- The Affliction Challenge League – In the Affliction League, you will find holy wisps that will lead you into vegetation-filled passages that will lead you to the Viridine Forest. A vile affliction has covered this forest in fateful darkness. You will have to reveal the mysteries of the forest to stop the origin of the affliction.
- The Viridine Forest – As you approach darkness, the wisps will dispel the affliction that covers the forest. But proceed with caution, as the power they possess is limited and when it runs out, it will take you back to Wraeclast.
- Control the challenge and rewards – When you return from the forest, the wisps you saved from the affliction will scatter across the map and impregnate random enemies, increasing their power and loot. Different types of wisps have unique effects, and sometimes an enemy can be imbued with multiple wisps, making combat even more difficult but also more rewarding.
- Forest ancestry classes – As you explore the forest, choose which of the Azmer Walkers is your favorite and complete their quests to unlock one of three new ancestry classes you can have in addition to your normal ancestry class.
- Valuable new rewards – The Affliction challenge league contains many types of rewards. Wraeclast monsters can be affected by the Wisps you bring back from Viridine Forest, greatly increasing the quality and quantity of the items they drop upon death. Path of Exile: Affliction also introduces over 15 new unique items to the game.
- The return of the ultimatum – Ultimatum finally arrives in the base game. The Trial Master is back and will offer you the chance to face a deadly Vaal trial in exchange for great rewards. If you pass the test, you will have to bet double or nothing. Will you accept the challenge and take risks for a greater reward? Or will you give up to keep the price you already got? We’ve overhauled all Ultimatum content and added many new modifiers, Atlas passive abilities, keystones, and rewards, including new and redesigned unique items.
Path of Exile 2 will be available on PC, macOS, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
