When The Creator appears on Disney Plus
From January 17, 2024 you can watch the sci-fi spectacle on Disney’s streaming provider – according to the official press release.
In The Creator, the ex-soldier Joshua (played by John David Washington) ends up in the war with artificial intelligence in Southeast Asia, where the mechanical opponents have manufactured a weapon that is believed to destroy humans. Over the course of the journey, however, he has to question his morals, which have been solidified over the years.

Why the film should not be underestimated
The box office result of The Creator leaves a lot to be desired; according to reports, the film only brought in just over 100 million US dollars Box Office Mojo again – pretty puny, even for the extremely low budget of around 80 million dollars that was spent on the production.
It’s precisely the few monies that make The Creator so special: The director Gareth Edwards didn’t shoot in the studio like so many other action blockbusters, but was at real locations with a small team.
The effects were added later and the look appears much more plastic, dirty and real than the many CGI crimes of recent years – and for a fraction of the price! Colleague Marco from Nerdkultur even says that it could revolutionize the design of the classic blockbuster:

Internationally, The Creator aroused mixed feelings among viewers IMDB The unusual sci-fi flick achieved 6.9 stars Rotten Tomatoes It’s 66 percent for reviews and 76 percent for audience scores.
