The two development studios 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks have to lay off numerous employees as part of the restructuring of the Embracer Group.
As a result of Embracer Group’s restructuring program, the wave of layoffs continues. Shortly before Christmas, the two Danish development studios 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks are hit.
Both studios were acquired by Embracer Group in 2021 and have since operated under the Saber Interactive banner.
While there are currently no official statements from 3D Realms, Slipgate Ironworks, Saber Interactive or the Embracer Group, 3D Realms Lead Composer reports Michael Markie via X about his dismissal.
3D Realms founder Scott Millerwho currently serves as head of Apogee Entertainment, said he was informed of the layoffs by multiple sources.
According to his information, at least half of the workforce at both studios, including high-ranking employees, will be affected by the layoffs.
