In the competitive world of video games, the year 2023 has more than one unpleasant surprise in store for players. While some titles promised excitement and fun, the reality was much different, giving us titles that range from just plain bad to aberrations.

And to celebrate the end of another year of video games, today we bring you this top five worst games of 2023 according to Metacritic’s very erudite critics. These are:
5. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Opening the list of the five worst games of 2023 is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Even if we expected a lot from an adventure in Middle Earth, this game left a bitter taste for fans. Unintuitive controls and a story that fails to capture the essence of the main character contributed to The Lord of the Rings: Gollum have a 38 on Metacritic.
4. Greyhill Incident
Fourth place goes to Greyhill Incident, a title that was intended to be an immersive psychological thriller. However, the promises remained unresolved, with players finding themselves faced with a Confusing plot and tedious gameplay, not to mention terrible graphics
3. Flashback 2
Flashback 2 It’s a sequel that didn’t live up to expectations. Despite its attempt to capture the essence of the original game, this installment was criticized for its lack of innovation, despite a technical section that wasn’t bad at all. Of course, if you are a fan of dungeon type games, it is better to try the first opus. Its Metacritic score is 36.
2. The Walking Dead: Fates
Despite the successful story that precedes this installment, the 2023 version leaves a lot to be desired. Its premise was interesting, being a sort of compilation of What If…? from the television series. With a score of 29, this game disappointed fans in every possible sense of the phrase. Stay away from this game at all costs.
1. Skull Island: Rise of Kong
Sitting on the throne of disappointment is “Skull Island: Rise of Kong,” a game that has received abhorrent reviews since its release. From the graphics to the story, the exploration and even the poor voice acting are disastrous, tarnishing the reputation of the cinematic monkey par excellence. Its score is a terrible 23 out of 100 on Metacritic.
