full time hunter Fans are rejoicing that a fighting game based on the beloved shonen series is in development.
With its wide range of characters and varying abilities, you might think a series like Hunter x Hunter would be suitable for a fighting game. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case so far, but at last weekend’s Jump Festa, developer Evening and publisher Bushiroad Games jointly announced that they were working on a Hunter x Hunter fighting game. Unfortunately again, as far as details go, that’s about it, but apparently more details will be shared during Bushiroad’s New Year’s broadcast on January 6 next year (no, I’m not happy that another year is coming to an end).
If you think the name “Eighting” sounds vaguely familiar, that’s probably because it applies to a few games you’ve most likely heard of; as far as fighting games go, the biggest is undoubtedly Marvel vs Capcom 3 and its follow-up Ultimate,” but it also works with games like Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Bloody Roar. On top of that, Eighting also helped develop Arc System Work’s DNF Duel, which may not be a fighting game, but it’s Nintendo’s Pikmin 4. So hopefully it’s the right studio for the job.
Fans were a little concerned about the news – after all, crappy anime arena fighters abound, including the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash (you deserve better, Gojo), so fans were hoping it would be more Close to traditional fighting games.
The Hunter x Hunter fighting game isn’t the only big announcement from Jump Festa this weekend. First up, the Saw anime is finally back in the form of a new movie covering the next storyline of the series, and surprisingly, Netflix is remaking the One Piece anime from the first storyline start.
