The A Rift in Time DLC for Disney Dreamlight Valley gives you a brand new map just waiting for you to explore. However, at the very beginning, a broken bridge and some pesky tasks stand in your way. The Sands in the Hourglass is the last quest you must complete before you can access the first area of all DLC biomes.
Without further ado, we will show you how to complete the Sands in the Hourglass quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Sands in the Hourglass Walkthrough
To complete the Sands in the Hourglass quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must find your way to the secluded beach of Ancient’s Landing and restore the broken parts of the Statue of Time there. However, it is not as simple as it seems at first glance.
Remember, you must first complete the Flying Nuisance quest.
Here’s a quick list of tasks you need to complete for this quest, feel free to use the links to jump straight to the part you need:
Reach the secluded beach
To reach the secluded beach of Ancient’s Landing, you need to face the broken bridge in the courtyard, then head to the right. You should come to another stone archway blocked by Swirling Sands. Clear this by equipping your hourglass, then stand close enough to the sands so that they are highlighted. Once highlighted, use the control prompted to clear them.
Once clear, follow the path and you will arrive at the secluded beach. When you’re here, look to your right and interact with the hologram station to talk to Jafar again. He will tell you about the Statue of Time and how it is broken. Now it’s up to you to fix it.
Find the missing pieces in Seulated Beach
Fortunately, the missing pieces you are looking for are both hidden in Seulated Beach. To find the missing pieces in Seulated Beach, you must use your hourglass to find and reveal the hidden “treasure”.
To do this, equip your hourglass again, then press the requested command (for Xbox it’s “X”) to wave the tool. At the top of the hourglass, just above your head, you should see a small line appear with a few sparkles coming out of it.
The sparkles act as a sort of arrow as they point in the direction of any hidden treasure nearby. Keep repeating the step to make the sparkles appear and walk in the direction they tell you to go. Once you get very close to a hidden “treasure”, the line and glitter will turn a shiny gold color.
When you find the “treasure”, you will need to quickly press the requested command (on Xbox it is “A”) to reveal and collect it.
You need to find two parts in Seulated Beachyou will then have to venture further to obtain old plates.
Find the Ancient Plates in Ancient’s Landing.
You need to find three ancient plates in Ancient’s Landing now. You need to search for them and reveal their location the same way you did on the isolated beach.
It’s unclear if the Anicent plates are random spawns, but here is where we found all the old plates:
- In the Courtyard, to the left of the door leading to the Docks opposite the door.
- Near the stone bench next to the well, on the upper level of the Docks.
- Near the pile of crates on the shore near EVE’s ship.
Report your findings to Jafar on the isolated beach. He will then give you a set of instructions on how to repair the statue. Enter your inventory, select the instruction manual and select “Use”. Your next task is to use the Timebending table.
Use the Time Mastery Table.
The Time Mastering Table can be found to the right of Jafar’s Hologram Station on the Isolated Beach to repair the statue’s arms.
Interact with the Time Mastery Table as you would a Crafting Table, then select the “Quest” section that appears in the Table menu. Here, select the “Statue Weapons” option and confirm that you want to create them.
Once you have created them, head to the Statue of Time in the middle of the isolated beach and use the requested command to interact with it to repair its arms. Once you’ve done that, head back to the broken bridge in the courtyard.
Use Mist to repair the broken bridge.
When you reach the broken bridge, talk to Jafar using the hologram station to the right of it. You will learn that the Hourglass can now use Mist Magic (which is very similar to Dreamlight). Mist can be used to correct anomalies on the Isle of Eternity and it can also be used to make your hourglass more powerful via a Time Mastery Table.
However, at present, you need to collect 2,000 Mist to repair the broken bridge. You can check how much mist you currently have by going to your Dreamlight menu and selecting either the “Island of Eternity” tab or the “Mist Functions” tab.
In either of these menus, you should see your mist count at the very top of the tasks:
All tasks listed in these two menus will reward you with Mist upon completion. You can also collect Mist on the Isle of Eternity by helping villagers and eliminating Shards of Destiny.
When you have 2,000 Mist, interact with the broken bridge in The Courtyard to repair it. This will open the way to the Glittering Dunes and Wild Tangle biomes. This also marks the end of this quest!
