The deployment of HyperOS continues. Xiaomi gave a surprise a few days ago by launching the stable update of the POCO F5 and also announcing the deployment of the Xiaomi 13 and the Redmi Note 12S. This allows users to discover system details that can be very useful in daily life.
Besides a slight visual change in some sections, HyperOS adds feature improvements. Next, we will look at four details or Features of Xiaomi HyperOS that are inspired by iOS and which will be welcome in the system.
Control center
Shortly after the presentation of HyperOS, we were able to test the new control center. It’s not a hugely significant change, but it’s very reminiscent of iOS in two details. The first is the new music widget which allows us to both see what is currently playing and control playback.
This is very interesting because it no longer takes up a huge card in the notification area, which now focuses only on this type of notification. On the other hand, the icons have been redesigned so that they do not display the name of the action under each of them.
And if, The volume and brightness controls also seem straight out of iOSbut they take up little space, are quite visual and are at the perfect thumb height (for right-handed people).
Dynamic notch
During the presentation of HyperOS we saw an example of the Dynamic Notch, Xiaomi’s answer to the Dynamic Island introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and which some Android models, such as the Realme C55, have tried to reproduce.
One of the particularities of Dynamic Island is that it changes depending on the action taking place in the application. For example, if we are charging the iPhone, the island becomes slightly larger to display a charging animation. If we minimize the Maps application on the iPhone, it always shows us a small arrow, and the same with the animation of a timer, among others.
HyperOS’ Dynamic Notch is the same concept. As you can see in the video below, depending on the action, it’s as if the top of the mobile expands downward to display an animation.
As we can see in Xiaomiui there are several such as sleep modes, notifications, charging, connecting devices or if we put the phone in silent mode.
PNG Maker and Layer Editing
Something that was introduced a few generations ago in iOS was the ability to create stickers extremely easily by cutting out an object from any photo. By placing your finger on, for example, a photo of a person, a doll or an animal, the system detects that it is separated from the rest of the background and creates a PNG with only this image.
This way we can edit this image later, use the PNG to do what we want and even easily create stickers in iMessage. What you can see in this video is something very similar, since in HyperOS, By pressing and holding, you can isolate an object from the background:
In addition, as our colleagues from Mundo Xiaomi point out, although we can save the image in PNG format, we can also modify it, changing the background very easily:
You can change the background, but also the effect, applying a background blur. Of course, in the latter case, that of photo editing, it seems that the requirement is that it be in PNG format, so other formats like JPG would not be valid.
Ecosystem
There are other details of HyperOS in which we see inspiration from iOS, but in the end, the most important thing is something that all brands look for, the ecosystem. Samsung or Apple are two clear examples when talking about ecosystem, but Xiaomi is not far behind.
In China there are many, many devices that do not reach the West and all of them are included in different applications. With the arrival of HyperOS, the goal is that all devices that update to this version, are in continuous communication with the central device, the mobile telephone.
This is something that is perfectly seen in the presentation video of the system and that, hopefully, we will see in the West with the arrival of HyperOS.
