News culture In order to release them in China, Hollywood cuts up its films: Marvel and James Bond are among the victims
For release in some countries, it is sometimes necessary to change many scenes. Therefore, some feature films may be completely different to meet certain criteria.
You may have noticed that a film looks a little different in other countries. Changes that may seem absurd from the outside, but that simply make sense
You may not know it, but Marvel and James Bond films had to be changed to suit Chinese audiences. Hollywood was aware of the potential of these films in this country and insisted on compliance with specific requirements. Between cutscenes or, conversely, additional content, these two licenses corresponded to the Chinese conditions.

Marvel and James Bond are undergoing changes for Chinese audiences
Watching Skyfall, the twenty-third James Bond film in China, can bring big surprises. Scenes were cut out, such as the death of a Chinese character, which was simply not shown on camera.e. However, the Chinese censorship did not end there, as entire parts of certain dialogues were deliberately not translated. So when a character talks about their past and mentions the fact that they were forced into prostitution, the subtitles leave the topic very vague and don’t bother to go into detail. Another character explains that he was tortured in Hong Kong, which just doesn’t come across in the subtitles.
If it’s not about cutscenes, the opposite can happen. For example, because the film Iron Man 3 benefited from a Chinese investment fund, preferential treatment was introduced. So it’s three extra minutes added just for the Chinese audience, as well as product placement for a brand that’s very popular in China.
