So what is Shigeru Miyamoto up to at Nintendo? According to his own statement, he no longer sees himself as a game designer. “I want to find unique opportunities for Nintendo. The way things work here is that we don’t have a plan and follow it, but rather we stumble upon certain things and try to follow our new path from there. The movies, the theme parks, me I’m excited to see what natural things develop from this… I’m still very new to the film industry and still learning, but I’m currently trying to read a lot of scripts and learn how they develop to see how we can create unique ones Being able to create Nintendo films.”
After the great Super Mario Bros. film, we can look forward to even more screen appearances. For example, a film based on The Legend of Zelda is currently in the works. It’s certainly nice to know that Miyamoto himself is watching over these projects like a hawk.
