Last year, Warner Bros. announced that the Minecraft feature film will be released in theaters in April 2025. Now, in a new update, Deadline is reporting that actor and musician Jack Black will be joining the cast.
The Kung Fu Panda and Persistent D star will reportedly play the role of Steve in this Jason Momoa-helmed film. Production on this new film is “soon underway,” but plot details have yet to be revealed.
Deadline: “The plot of the picture is under wraps, and the authors of the script are still being determined. We heard that Black is playing the role of Steve.”
Obviously, this isn’t Jack Black’s first film role in video games. Last year he played Bowser in the Movie Super Mario Bros, which ended up being a huge success at the box office. His song from the movie ‘Peaches’ was also nominated for a Golden Globe.
Black will also star in the live action Borderlands movie, which should be released this August. As for the Minecraft movie, it should be hitting theaters April 4, 2025.
