Every year there is a sieve, it is inevitable. Apple, like any good company, always withdraws from sale products or accessories that have not met sales expectations or are no longer suitable to offer more. And 2023 was no exception, we had to say goodbye to many gadgets.
Will we have substitutes for these products? For some no, for others… it can. Let’s see what we left behind in 2023 and if in the future we will see something that will replace it or be at least equivalent. In some cases, an adjustment is detected.
Products we had to say goodbye to
Let’s recall the products that Apple has withdrawn from sale over the past year:
- We left behind us the Touch bar: The cheaper M3 MacBook Pros are now on par with the high-end models in terms of design.
- The bone iPhoneminiIt was with great pain that they said goodbye. It has been impossible for them to survive in the face of the hegemony of big screens in our pockets.
- Some charging accessories have disappeared: Apple no longer even sells the MagSafe battery not even MagSafe Duo. The European Union and its regulations mandating USB-C are the main culprits.
- For this same reason, the vast majority of Lightning accessories They have already signed their death warrant.
- The accessories of leatherdue to ecological and ethical problems of Apple itself, have also disappeared.
2024: Replacements or surprises?
Apple’s plans always have room to surprise us, of course. Obviously, there are products like the Lightning connector that can no longer come back, but we could talk about natural successors or products that are looking for other formulas to meet the needs which covered those who are no longer there.
The Touch Bar may not have worked, but maybe we’ll see some sort of heritage with that mysterious folding computer we saw in the patents. Part of this screen could, for example, serve as a keyboard. AND The same could be said of an iPhone mini if a foldable Apple phone appears.
With charging accessories, you don’t need to have so much imagination. Simply replace them with new models with a USB-C connection, thus adapting to European standards. The question to ask here is whether Apple is going to do this or whether it is ultimately no longer interested in manufacturing these accessories. Maybe the market is too saturated.
The leather substitute, for now, is the controversial FineWoven fabric new iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands. Depending on the evolution of sales, this fabric will always be present or will change in one way or another. And if you do it, it will be to gain more resistance.
And of course, there is always room for absolutely unexpected surprises. Apple can make decisions such as resurrecting its routers without notice or rumor, seeking to boost sales in the accessories division. Who knows. But for now, even without these surprises, we are in for a very entertaining year with the Vision Pro and the arrival of generative AI in iOS 18.
