If you’re like me, there’s one faction you wish Bethesda had devoted more time to in Starfield – House Va’ruun. If so, then you might be interested in the fact that two modders are working on fleshing out this mysterious faction’s unique arsenal.
Hey, here’s a start, if you’re currently playing an estranged fanatic with an attitude towards the United Colonies and the Free Star collective that would make most pirates blush while you wait to see if Bethesda will treat us, then here’s one A fitting start to some Va’ruun-centric DLC. Even if that’s not the case, we all love adding a good gun or two to our cargo collection.

Modders Deantendo and SpoopySauce1 (collectively known as “Tau Ceti Voidworks”) are the duo responsible for adding these cool alien weapons to the game. Their first title, “Inflictor Enhanced Edition,” was released during the holiday season and is essentially an enhanced version of the base game’s Va’ruun Inflictor rifle. Once installed, the gun will be transformed with a range of stylish new textures and add-ons designed to make it perfect as a stealth space assassin.
With that out of the way, the duo have now released some teaser concept art for two more Varun guns they’re developing, which appear to be entirely new additions to the game rather than modifications of existing weapons.
The first of these is called the “Viper” and is intended to be a more powerful big brother to the base game’s Va’ruun Starshard pistol. According to the modder, it is: “Powerful, versatile and simple” and “ideal for smaller spaces like ships and corridors.”
Then there are the polluters. Of the two guns, this one might be the one you’re most interested in, especially if you’re a fan of Fallout’s big gun abilities. It’s a “heavy particle cannon” designed to rival the most powerful ammunition in the game. The sales slogan is simple: “Very rare. Expensive to make. So fun it might even put a smile on an enthusiast’s face.”
There doesn’t seem to be a specific timetable for when these guns will arrive in the hub, so you’ll have to stick with your existing gear for now, but they look like they might be worth keeping an eye on, assuming they live up to the promises conveyed by the trailer art.
Weapons aren’t the only thing Starfield modders have been working on lately, with one aimed at giving players the chance to pilot working mechs, while another brings Destiny 2’s Exos as a custom race to the settlement system .
