The new iPad Pro will see a steep price increase to include, among other factors, OLED. It could be launched at the end of March.
According to a new South Korean report posted by usereyes1122 on a blog called Naver, Apple’s iPad Pro will see a big price hike and it won’t be cheap at all. With a starting price of $1,500, it is likely to rise up to 1800 and 2000 dollars if we take into account a larger storage size. It will be one of the most expensive products in the catalog, very close to Apple’s Macs.
An iPad Pro that won’t be accessible at all because of the OLED
Since March of last year, The Elec has reported a price estimate of between $1,500 and $1,800 for the two existing 11- and 13-inch models. Currently, the most expensive iPad Pro costs $2,100 with up to 2TB of storage and also considering configuration with cellular coverage features.
This will be a sharp increase of up to 80% in the initial 11-inch model which currently costs $799. The 13-inch model would increase by 60% having a current price of $1099. What is the reason for the sharp rise in prices?
Acquiring OLED panels from companies such as Samsung and LG in proportion to the costs of the material, this makes it very expensive and the end consumer will ultimately have to absorb this movement.
Would it be better to choose a Mac over an iPad?
Since Apple announced the iPad Pro equipped with M-series chips, one may wonder if it is really worth owning one due to the multiple limitations, especially at the operating system level. It can have amazing performance but if it is not possible to achieve the minimum compared to a Mac, then the doubt begins to choose the best device.
Currently, the most affordable Mac has the M2 chip and costs $1,199. An iPad Pro with OLED will be excessive in practically everything. Which product would you choose? The challenge of which iPad to buy in 2024 has begun.
Those from Cupertino consider will justify these high prices by an increase in storage and will highlight the advantages of using OLED above the Liquid Retina miniLED. They will also heavily benchmark the evolution of a lighter, thinner device compared to previous iPads and competing tablets.
Finally, according to the latest information from Mark Gurman, Apple is likely to introduce new MagSafe charging for these iPads and the presentation of a new Magic Keyboard which will have a larger trackpad, making it look more like a Mac.
When will we see the new iPad Pro?
We won’t wait long because The spring event is expected to take place at the end of Marchas well as the release of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 according to Gurman himself.
We are looking forward to a brilliant launch with the Apple Vision Pro since those from Cupertino have just announced that they will be available from February 2 in the United States.
