Last December, Wonka was released in theaters to rave reviews. The musical prequel to Roald Dahl’s classic story has grossed $465 million worldwide so far, with $164.7 million coming from the United States alone.
All of this success means that Wonka will undoubtedly attract a lot of attention once she leaves the big screen. As such, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know to watch Wonka from the comfort of your own home.

How to watch Wonka now
At the time of writing, you can only watch Wonka in theaters. In the United Kingdom, it opened on December 8, 2023, and in the United States, it debuted on December 15, 2023.

When could Wonka be available on VOD?
There are rumors that Wonka will be released in mid-to-late January on VOD, but at the moment we cannot verify them. These dates would make sense, given that Warner generally distributes its blockbusters to VOD platforms about a month after their release.
That said, Wonka continues to perform well, so the wait could be longer. We’ll update this article when we have more information, but you can still pre-order it on Prime Video in the US (for $24.99) or on Prime Video and iTunes in the UK (for £19.99 ).
When could Wonka be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
A release date for Wonka’s DVD and Blu-ray has not yet been announced. However, physical copies of Warner Bros. films. are generally available two to three months after theatrical release. Therefore, we predict that you will be able to purchase Wonka between February and March 2024.
The film is already available for pre-order. In the UK you can find it on hmv.com – the DVD edition costs £9.99. In the US, you can pre-order Wonka on Amazon – the DVD is $19.96 and the Blu-ray is $24.96.
When might Wonka be available to stream in the US and UK?
Wonka’s streaming release date has not yet been confirmed. However, based on previous releases like Barbie, we expect it to land sometime in the spring.
In the United States, Wonka will surely arrive at Max, the streaming house of Warner Bros. productions. The basic ad-supported subscription costs $9.99 per month/$99.99 per year, although ad-free options are also available.
UK-based viewers will likely see Wonka on Now and Sky Cinema, the two platforms that usually receive new releases from Warner Bros, given that Max isn’t available here. A Now Cinema subscription costs £9.99 per month. However, there are often discounts for new customers.
