A new PS5 controller has apparently leaked on the web, bringing with it a significant improvement. It’s time for a little comparison.
Something new seems to be brewing on the PS5 side. We welcomed the Slim last year, now it’s the Pro version that’s at the center of all the rumors. But isn’t Sony secretly cooking up something else? That’s what a leak seems to tell us, and it’s a somewhat unusual new controller. Is it that different from the base model? Let’s see it now.
A new PS5 controller has leaked
This controller was spotted on Best Buy Canada’s website and it’s clearly an improved version of the DualSense. To be more precise, the full name is “PS5 v2 DualSense Wireless Controller”. Overall, it offers similar features to the one we know, with a significant improvement. It’s about the battery, a sensitive issue for wireless controllers of any brand. Here it is significantly improved, which should please as many people as possible who saw it as a problem.
We are quoted a battery life of 12 hours. For comparison: The currently fully charged PS5 controller can last between 3 and 6 hours before it needs to be reconnected. After that, it also depends on the game you are playing. In addition, the equipment list states “a charging station included in the offer is indicated” easy click-in loading
What about the PS5 Pro?
However, let’s remember that this is a leak and we must therefore treat it with caution. However, we’re dealing with pretty solid evidence, so we’ll just have to wait for official confirmation from Sony. With the PS5 Pro, however, you have to be patient. Tom Henderson, a well-informed insider, was the first to mention it. It would be an improved version of the console that should technically be released in late 2024. There would be some great new features on the menu, but will it end up being officially released?
According to the rumor spread by Henderson, the company would prefer to wait until the third quarter of 2024 to unveil the PS5 Pro. This would be more in line with his announcement history, which might reassure some. So if it really comes out towards the end of 2024, Sony will not present it in January or February. Hopefully we’ll hear more and at least some confirmation of its existence in the coming months.
