A PS5 DualSense V2 controller with better battery life could be coming soon

Sony’s DualSense controller is a great gamepad for PS5 (and PC too) whose battery life is pretty poor, lasting between 5 and 7 hours per charge depending on the games played. However, an improved model could soon come onto the market, albeit with improved battery life and an included charging station (via The edge).

A listing currently available on Best Buy’s Canadian website describes the new controller, dubbed the “V2” DualSense. One of the bullet points states, “The exceptional battery life of 12 hours on a full charge supports long gaming sessions.” Notably, the listing reveals that this controller may cost $89.99 CAD, which is common in Canada for the original DualSense .

Images of the DualSense V2 accompanying the listing do not show any cosmetic differences that could distinguish it from the original DualSense, which came included with every PS5 and has been sold alongside the console since its launch in 2020. Browsing through the specs, this new version weighs 280 grams – the same as the previous DualSense. While some or all of these specs may be true, keep in mind that this Best Buy list may not contain all the latest details as Sony hasn’t officially announced this controller.

Polygon has reached out to Sony for comment.
