Rocksteady and WB Games are doing something strange. They are partially lifting the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in connection with an earlier alpha test next year Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League the following a lot of mixed and negative previews.
Earlier this week, numerous media outlets and content creators across the internet released their hands-on previews of Rocksteady’s open-world co-op looter-shooter super-villain game. Suicide Squad. While some media and people were positive about the upcoming DC game, many others complained about the awkward combat, poor traversal controls, boring missions, live service annoyances, boring loot, generic action, and lack of mechanical variety with every team member. Now, a few days later, Rocksteady is apparently trying to change the narrative around its oft-delayed co-op game.
On January 11th Rocksteady announced that it partially lifted the NDA in connection with an alpha test in November 2023 Suicide Squad. In particular, players are now free to talk openly online about the first part of the game they played last year.
“Now that there is more news about the game and players are asking, we are no longer enforcing part of the non-disclosure agreement,” Rocksteady explained. “And we’re allowing players to talk about their experiences during the closed alpha test.” We’ve heard the community’s wishes and want to give players the opportunity to discuss what it’s like to play Metropolis as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark to explore.”
My city has contacted Rocksteady and WB Games.
Rocksteady made it clear that the rest of the non-disclosure agreement still applies and asked players not to share any images or videos from the closed test.
Why is Rocksteady lifting the Alpha NDA now?
It’s an interesting move from Rocksteady, but one that makes sense. Recent previews haven’t been particularly positive and many, myself included, have heard that many people who had the chance to play a large portion of the game in November enjoyed it. But these players couldn’t discuss it freely Suicide Squad Alpha testing due to NDA restrictions.
Well, rock steady Really wants those players to start posting online about how much fun they had playing Suicide Squad, likely providing an alternative to the mixed previews from earlier in the week.
Will it work? Perhaps. At least it’s nice that these players can freely share their experiences playing the Alpha without fear of lawyers or legal problems.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on February 2nd on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
