The Witcher series on Netflix is facing major changes with season 4, after all Henry Cavill leaves the set as Geralt and is replaced. The fact that the role of a popular character has now been filled by a well-known Matrix star is likely to make people jump for joy.
Like the video games, the TV series “The Witcher” on Netflix turned out to be an absolute success. The fantasy epic is now entering its fourth season – and that brings with it major changes. Finally, Henry Cavill is replaced as the protagonist of the Witcher Geralt; Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia in the future.
Incidentally, another very familiar face can also be seen in the fourth season, as none other than Matrix star Laurence Fishburne will be joining the cast in the future. He will take on the role of fan-favorite character Regis. Regist is a 400-year-old vampire who befriends Geralt in the third part of Andrzej Sapkowski’s book. Even after “Baptism of Fire”, Regis still appears in the fourth and fifth Witcher books called “The Tower of the Swallow” and “The Lady of the Lake”. And: Regis is of course also mentioned in the Witcher video games.
It remains to be seen how big Regis’ appearance in the Witcher series will be and whether it will be modified from the books in any way for the Netflix adaptation. In any case, Fishburne is already looking forward to his new role: “I’m very excited to join the cast and look forward to exploring the wonderful world of The Witcher,” he said as part of the official announcement.
The cast of Season 4 of The Witcher on Netflix consists of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Joey Batey as Jaskier and Laurence Fishburne as Regis.
Filming for the fourth season of the series is expected to begin in spring 2024. There is no start date on the Netflix streaming service yet, but if everything goes according to plan, the premiere should probably take place next year 2025. We will of course keep you updated on this.
