The developers behind it PalWorld– what is often referred to on the internet as “Pokémon with weapons” – understand that people may be suspicious of this unorthodox survival game, so they have tried to reassure people that it is not a “scam” on Steam.
In case you missed it, PalWorld looks very much like someone was thrown down Minecraft, Fourteen days, Pokémon, and some AR-15s into a giant blender, took the resulting digital pulp and turned it into an actual video game. Watch trailer and gameplay of it, Palworld almost looks fake or like a fever dream. But it is (as far as I can tell) real, with Even Xbox announces that it will be available on day one in Game Pass for PC and console.
But after questionable launches of other online games –How The day before– and as people wonder if this game is just a big joke, the developers have posted a new FAQ PalWorlds Steam store page ahead of release on January 19th.
As discovered by GamesRadar on January 17ththe official Steam page for the game contains a “Frequently asked questions about the launch of PalWorld Early Access.” It’s mostly what you’d expect: explaining that crossplay is coming, that there might be a PS5 version someday, and explaining how multiplayer works. Standard material. But then at the very end there is this frequently asked question:
“Is this game a scam? Or is it a money-making MMO or virtual currency game?”
And look, I believe The PalWorld is not a scam. The fact that Xbox paid money to get it on Game Pass seems like more than enough proof that the game is real and coming out soon. But boy, PalWorld‘S The answer to the question of whether it’s a scam or just a “money-making MMO” is strangely defensive.
“It is not a scam and will definitely be released on January 19th.” PalWorlds developers said. “PalWorld is a typical Steam game, you buy it once and it’s yours forever. Even though we’re considering expansions after full release, this is a conversation we’ll all have together as a community when the time comes!”
It’s just a typical video game, definitely not a scam, guys. There’s nothing to see here. But this answer makes me wonder what kind of messages and posts the developers are seeing that made them so direct and specific.
We’ll all see on January 19th PalWorld is real or a collective fever dream we all had after seeing too much Pokémon and play a few nightly rounds Fourteen days while high.
