It’s dark, it’s brutal, it’s a graphic hit: Hellblade 2 showed off some new scenes during the Xbox Developer Direct that can even compete with graphic bombs like Alan Wake 2. But the story certainly shouldn’t be neglected. We’ll tell you the most important information that was revealed in the live stream.

Hellblade 2 creates a masterful atmosphere – here you can see the technology that makes it possible
In the trailer above you can see new gameplay scenes and cutscenes. But you have to look closely to distinguish them: Hellblade 2 looks absolutely fantastic and almost cinematic even in the direct game scenes. But also quite dark, even a little scarier than part 1. “Senua is not a superhero,” say the developers. Every fight should feel like Senua is barely surviving.
But it didn’t stop there: The video also contains some exciting information about how the development of Hellblade works, which experts we work with and how motion capture has developed further. There were also new story snippets to hear.
Release is fixed
I am 21. May 2024 Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game will land immediately upon release Game Pass.
Further features and information
- Short game: Hellblade 2 is not intended to provide a lot of hours of play. Like its predecessor, emphasis is placed on a shorter, but very story-heavy and graphically impressive experience.
- Senua has evolved since Hellblade 1. She still has psychoses, perceives reality through different eyes and, above all, still has the voices in her head. But she is no longer afraid of them and has found peace with her past.
- About Senua’s psychoses To reproduce it authentically, the developers are once again working with those affected and a professor from the University of Cambridge.
- She is now in Icelandto fight the Vikings who attacked their village. The whole thing takes place during the 10th century. Ninja Theory would like to reflect the history of this time as authentically as possible.
- Neue NPCs: In contrast to the first part, Senua also meets other characters with whom she becomes friends.
- The sound plays an even bigger role: In Hellblade 2, not only the voices are binaural, but also the music, among other things. So if you play with good headphones, the sounds will come from different directions, creating a more immersive experience.
- Speaking of music: For the soundtrack, Ninja Theory is working with the Scandinavian-Europe folk band Heil.
Ultimately, there are still some question marks about the story, but with such a short title, every little bit of information is quickly a spoiler. After all, the first part, Senua’s Sacrifice, is only 7-9 hours long – Hellblade 2 will probably be of a similar length.
What do you think of the scenes shown? In your opinion, does Hellblade 2 even look better than Alan Wake 2? Feel free to write it in the comments!
